About Us

Hello, and welcome to our website!  I’m Jeff Wilson, and my wife Nancy and I purchased Blues to Bach Music Center on January 15, 2016 from previous owners Brian and Kathy Stark.  We are thrilled to be able to put our passion for music into a business that is designed to instill the love for music in others. We plan to continue the great work the Starks did in focusing the growth of the business on instrument rental and renting the lesson rooms to quality instructors… while adding our own flair and fun along the way!
We have two great kids, Garrett (21) and Jenna (18).  Garrett will be working with me at the store and we are both excited to join a team of employees and instructors who love music and are enthusiastic about bringing music into the lives of others.

Here’s a bit of history about me and my family. I grew up in Minneapolis, Kansas where I played Trombone through high school and was a member of the Salina Youth Symphony Orchestra and the All-District Jazz Band.  I went to Kansas State University where I enjoyed participating in Men’s Glee and the K-State Singers.  During my college years, I took one year off and traveled with the international musical and educational group “Up With People”, where I met my lovely and talented wife, Nancy.  I had a blast singing solos, playing trombone, emceeing and…..wait for it…..even dancing in the show!  I then spent three summers singing at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City in the 50’s and 60’s rock-n-roll show “Stax of Wax” at the Moulin Rouge Theater.
As much fun as I had performing, I realized the chances of me being able to make a living on stage were very small.  Non-existent would be a fair description!  So I did the next best thing and went to work for Jenkins Music Company, where I managed several locations throughout the years.  Recently, I led music at Parkwood Day School where I had fun writing and composing songs for the kids/teachers as requested.  I fill in at church on piano, guitar, bass, or trombone when needed, and also enjoy playing bass guitar with friends in a cover band.  If we ever play a public gig… you will all be invited!
Garrett is a natural musician.  He was first chair trombone in the Wind Ensemble at Shawnee Mission West High School, is a talented guitar player and also plays piano.  He currently plays guitar in the church praise band and leads music at a day school in the mornings before coming in to Blues to Bach.  Jenna played clarinet through her freshman year at Shawnee Mission West and is the electric bass player in our church praise band.  Nancy is a vocalist, who enjoys singing alto in the church choir and sitting down at a piano and playing relaxing music.
As you can see, music is a central part of who we are.  It has filled our lives with amazing fun, incredible memories and great opportunities.
Some people dream of playing on stage in front of thousands of people.  Some want to play only for themselves.  I encourage you to start your musical journey at Blues to Bach, so you can play anywhere.
